This Plaid Tree Though....

This Plaid Tree Though....

I made this with a board sign from Hobby Lobby that I got on sale for $2.50 a wood tree from the Dollar Tree, black paint, four half round wood balls, a self adhesive silkscreen stencil, and chalk paste.
I used our Buffalo Plaid & Leopard Print stencil with Holiday Red Chalk Paste.

First, I painted the tree with black acrylic paint. Any black paint will do.

Next, place your stencil where you want it, pressing firmly and making sure there are no air bubbles. I like to line it up so the plaid is straight, but putting it on at an angle is cute too!

Once the chalk is dry, I like to rough it up a bit with a sanding block to give it a rustic look.

After sanding the tree, I used E6000 glue and hot glue to attach the tree to the board. I use the E6000 for a long term bond and the hot glue to hold it on while the E6000 dries.

Next, I needed to paint the half round wood balls. You can pick these up at any craft store.
I found the easiest way to paint them is to stick them to a piece of tape. I can paint all around them and keep my fingers clean. Try it....you'll be as amazed as I was. Lol.
Then I attached them to the board with E6000 and hot glue.
TIP: you only need a dab of each glue so it doesn't squish out the sides.

And here it is! Isn't it the cutest? I can't wait to add this to my Christmas decor!
